There are various types of locks that can be fitted to plastic (uPVC), aluminium or wooden windows and doors. Below are a few types that 1st Call Glazing stock and can be fitted to replace old existing locks that are damaged or are not up to Insurance Approved standards (BS3621).
These types of locks are generally fitted into the door and are mainly found in wooden doors, but some smaller types are found in aluminium doors. There are two main types of mortice lock, the mortice deadlock and the mortice sashlock.
These types of locks are found in wooden and aluminium doors but are fitted to the surface of the door.The external cylinder is key operated only and the internal latch is operated by a handle.
Although most locks can be replaced, we have found that some old types of locks can’t be replaced or have been discontinued. This is mostly found in the older aluminium doors where the lock has to fit exactly as the aluminium door cannot be chiselled out like a wooden door.
Euro cylinder locks are generally fitted in plastic (uPVC) or aluminium external doors.
